I'm Dreaming of a FIT Christmas

Having a hard time staying motivated to workout this Christmas? Does the cold weather and snow make you want to curl up under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate and some Christmas movies? Guess what, me too!

Every year I find myself resisting my regular workout routine and clean eating around the holidays, as do most people. But, this year for the holidays, I’m dreaming of a fit Christmas!

Here are a few tips to help you stay healthy and fit throughout the holidays!

1. Walk: This should be an easy one for most of us. Use your Christmas shopping time as a time to be active. Extend your shopping an extra few minutes and walk around the mall once or twice without even going in to a store to look. We all know it is difficult to go for long walks in the cold, so, use the malls as indoor walking time!

2. March: This one can be a fun one too. What I love to do most over the holidays is, you guessed it, watch Christmas movies! But, instead of watching these movies while sitting down, why not turn movie time into a stationary workout? If you march on the spot, bringing one knee at a time to hip level, this is a great way to work your core and legs, all while watching Christmas movies! You can even add an upper body twist for an extra core workout too! Pretty great right?

3.Healthy Baking: Replace those sugar filled baked goods with healthier options! Replace refined white sugar with all natural honey, maple syrup, or even coconut sugar! All are much healthier options. Or, better yet, look up some all natural recipes!

4. Healthy Hot Chocolate: One of my favourite sweet treats during the holidays has always been hot chocolate! This is actually a very easy one to turn healthy. Simply warm up some organic coconut milk or coconut cream (the ones in a can that have no added sugar or preservatives), add a tablespoon of raw cocoa powder, and organic coconut sugar (to your taste) and blend in a blender or with a hand held device. Due to the coconut milk, it will get nice and frothy and thick. To really make it more Christmasy, add in a drop of DoTerra Peppermint Oil to the mix!

5. Have fun: Rekindle your inner child this Christmas season and have some fun! Bundle up and play in the snow! Have a snowball fight or build a snowman. This in and of itself is a great workout and is a lot of fun! For anybody with children, this could even be turned into a family fun night!
